Hazardous Waste Training Course

OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency
Response (HAZWOPER) 29 CFR 1910.120

40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response -
General Site Worker - Initial

This class provides lectures and hands- on training to general site workers (such as equipment operators, general laborers and supervisory personnel) engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially
expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards.

Course Length: 5-days

24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response -
Limited Site Worker – Initial

This class provides training for workers that will be on site occasionally for a specific limited task (such as ground water monitoring, land surveying or geophysical surveying, or others) and will not likely to be exposed to atmospheres with contaminants at levels exceeding the OSHA permissible exposure limits (PELs) or other applicable published exposure limits. Course topics are similar to the 40- hour General site Worker, except that dress out in Level A would not be performed. Note: To complete the training for Limited Site Worker, the employer must provide an additional day of actual field experience under direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor.

8-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency
Response – Management and Supervisor – Initial
(Prerequisite: OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER and 3 Days of Supervised
Field Experience)

This lecture is for on-site management and supervisors directly responsible
for, or who supervise employees engaged in hazardous waste operations.
Topics include: employer’s safety and health program, personal
protective equipment program, spill containment program; and health
hazard monitoring procedure and techniques.

8-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency
Response – Refresher

This annual HAZWOPER refresher course is required for individuals to maintain their current 40-Hour General Site Worker, 24- Hour Limited Site Worker and/or 8-Hour Management and Supervisor certification. Class topics include a review of the initial HAZWOPER course topics and presentation fo new or amended regulations and technologies.

Hazardous Materials Training Course

OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency
Response (HAZMAT) 29 CFR 1910.120

HAZMAT
First Responder Awareness Level – Initial

This lecture course is designed for individuals who are likely to witness
or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to
initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities
of the release. Topics include: hazardous substances and the risks
associated with them; understanding the potential outcomes associated
with an emergency involving hazardous substances; the ability to recognize
the presence and to identify hazardous substances; and additional
topics.

Course Length: 4-hours

HAZMAT
First Responder Operations Level - Initial

First responders at this level receive lecture instructions related to releases
or potential releases for the purpose of protecting nearby persons,
property, or the environment from the effects of the release. Their function
is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading,
and prevent exposures. This course includes data presented at the First
Responder Awareness Level plus: knowledge to select and use proper
personal protection equipment; basic hazardous materials terms; how to
perform basic containment/confinement operations; basic decontamination
procedures; and additional topics.

HAZMAT
Hazardous Materials Technician – Initial
This lecture covers instruction to those individuals responding to releases
or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release. They
approach the actual point of release in order to plug, patch or otherwise
stop further releases. Course material discussed includes: implementing
the employer’s emergency response plan; use of field survey instruments
to classify and identify unknown materials; how to function within the
Incident Command System; knowledge to select and use specialized
chemical personal protective equipment; perform advanced control,

containment/ confinement operations; chemical and toxicological procedures;
and additional topics.

HAZMAT
Hazardous Materials Specialist – Initial

This lecture focuses on individuals who respond with and provide support
to the Hazardous Materials Technicians. Acting as the liaison with
Federal, State and local authorities this individual’s duties requires a
more directed or specific knowledge of the various substances being contained.
Information presented in the lectures include: implementing the
local emergency response plan, and have knowledge of the state emergency
response plan; understanding the classification and verification of
known and unknown materials using advanced survey instruments and
equipment; selection and use of personal protective equipment; hazard
and risk techniques; development of a site safety and control plan; and
additional topics.

HAZMAT
On Scene Incident Commander – Initial

The Incident Commander is given instructions to assume control of the
incident scene beyond the First Responder Awareness Level. This lecture
covers: implementing the employer’s incident command system, and the
employer’s emergency response plan; knowledge of hazards and risks
associated with employees working in chemical protective clothing;
implementing the local emergency response plan, and have knowledge of
the state emergency response plan, and the Federal Regional Response
Team; and additional topics.

HAZMAT
Refresher Course

OSHA [CFR 1910.1209(q)(8)] states that individuals who are trained at the various levels of HAZMAT emergency response "shall receive annual refresher training of sufficient content and duration to maintain their competencies or demonstrate their competencies at least yearly" . Employers must keep records of the methodologies used to demonstrate competency. Resolution can provide refresher training to assist employers in maintaining the competency of employees engaged in all levels of HAZMAT emergency response (Awareness Level through Incident Commander) Class topics will include review of Operations Level training and other topics as appropriate.

OSHA TRAINING COURSES

Hazard Communication – Employee

This course lecture is designed to educate employees on health hazards
in the workplace, and explain the data presented in material safety data
sheets (MSDS). It is the goal of this course to prepare employees to
understand more about hazardous materials used in their daily work
activities.

Course Length: 4-hours

Hazard Communication – Employer

This course lecture covers requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, and
regulatory requirements for MSDS sheets, health risks for hazardous
materials; and other general health and safety information. In addition to
information presented in the employee 4-Hour Hazard communication
course, this course extends to the employer the knowledge to establish
employee training programs, and the ability to track employee exposure
records.

Fall Protection

This course is designed to educate the different aspects of fall protection and the types of fall systems used in today's environments. Attendees will learn hazard assessment techniques to ensure the right fall protection for the job. Instruction will include: the OSHA Standard, competent person, safe work procedures, site-specific fall protection plans, and fall protection equipment and inspections.

OSHA Recordkeeping

Make educated decisions about what’s recordable…and what’s not. Understand Injury vs. Illness and the new way to count lost work days. Determine what a work related injury is. Determine whether the injury requires first aid or medical treatment. This course is designed for those responsible for OSHA recordkeeping.

Bloodborne Pathogens

This program details the methods to employees on how to prevent employee exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens like Hepatitis B while administering first aid resulting from an accident such as a serious laceration.

Lockout / Tagout

Attendees will learn about the principals of controlling hazardous energy and how to successfully de-energize a machine or piece of equipment. Topics include authorized vs. affected employees, energy sources, lockout equipment, tagging, equipment assessment, and the proper sequence of lockout/tagout before work can begin.

Trenching & Excavation Awareness and Competent Person

Attendees will learn about the hazards associated with working in and around excavations and trenches and the safe work practices to use on the job. Topics include hazard assessment, underground obstructions, load exposures, hazardous atmospheres, water accumulation, fall protection, inspections, soil stability, protective systems and the duties of a competent person.

Scaffolding Awareness and Competent Person

This course outlines safe work practices when working from elevated work platforms. Attendees will review the fundaments of different types of scaffolding, hazard assessment, fall protection, electrical safety, inspection, and the duties of competent person.

Hazard Communication

This program details the four requirements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard: Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Labeling and Marking Systems, Written Plan, and Employee Training. The employee “Right-To-Know” policy is discussed in detail.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This course details personal protective equipment which may be used in the workplace. This program details the importance of using administrative and engineering controls supplemented by the use of personal protective equipment.

Accident Prevention

This course covers the fundamentals of accident prevention including fundamental prevention activities such as work place inspection, causes of accidents, unsafe acts, work place inspection, unsafe conditions, control of accident causes, elimination of unsafe conditions and workplace procedures.

Safety Program Management

This course assists the supporting auxiliary safety manager in effectively maintaining all aspects of the company safety program.

Slips and Falls

This training course includes: hazard identification, placement of identification/signage. The course details the methods of housekeeping procedures to clean and maintain the walking surfaces as well as the frequencies in doing so.

First Aid/CPR/AED (American Heart Association) w/ Optional: Safety Training

This course will give first responders the basic knowledge to perform first aid, CPR and AED to stabilize an injured person until professional medical help arrives. The first aid training agenda includes: first aid basics, medical and injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies. The CPR and AED training agenda includes: adult/child CPR with mask, adult/child choking, adult/child AED use, optional modules in infant CPR and choking. The (optional) safety training for the workplace includes: first aid basics, medical emergencies, adult/child CPR with mask, adult/child choking, and adult/child AED use. This training is appropriate for: non-professional medical personnel, child care facilities, hospitals, educational facilities, safety and security personnel; and health and fitness personnel.

Machine Guarding

Safeguards are necessary to protect personnel in the work area from the hazards of moving machinery parts. This course covers the OSHA and Federal standards for safety of employees both operators and others by presentation of topics for: lockout/tagout, eye and face protection, exposure to blades and other moving parts, anchoring fixed machines and general machine guarding.

Forklift Operator Safety Training

This 4-hour course covers the classroom components of forklift safety. The course includes classroom information for: types of trucks, basic operation and warnings, safety and vehicle stability, work surface conditions, ramps; refueling and/or recharging of forklifts; and other topics. This course can qualify for the issuance of a “Certificate of Completion.”
